Fascinating movie-Worthy of a remake

I never heard of this movie before I cam across it on On-Demand a couple of days ago. It's pre-code and very well made. The timing of its release is interesting. It was released in Germany a month before Hitler became Chancellor, and in the US nearly a month after FDR was first inaugurated. It deals with themes that we would recognize today, such as a bad economy, a fatigue when it comes to international conflicts, frustration with Washington and an often ineffective criminal justice system. All of this is the backdrop of the US moving towards a dictatorship, but with an odd twist at the end. I encourage people to check it out.
