Underlines exactly everything that I hate about politics!

Politics is full of so many people pushing their own selfish agendas and just a few just trying to follow their consciences and do the right thing. The will of the people often is ignored and forgotten in favor of politicians grabbing advantages to satisfy the demands of their financial contributors. It ever has been thus, and seemingly ever will be. I truly believe that basically the Koch brothers and their ilk really run this country. The whole thing makes me feel sad and helpless. All we can do is press for campaign finance reform and try to elect people who care about their fellow human beings and are strong enough to resist pressure from special interests. Why is it that politicians who care about people who are less fortunate for whatever reason are scorned and ridiculed as bleeding liberals? President Obama is simply trying to do his best for as many Americans as he can despite the selfish agenda of the wealthy individuals pushing what they want for their own reasons. Regarding Dictatorship...it seems to me that the wealthy are trying their level best to dictate what happens in America...sigh. And as far as President Franklin Roosevelt goes, although he and his wife both came from the highest privileged class, they did their level best to make life better for those other people who had to work hard for their survival and were disadvantaged in many ways. They had good hearts. Like Jimmy Carter, who spends his retirement years literally building homes with his own two hands for people who have little chance of otherwise obtaining one. I'd love the chance to vote for someone who has that kind of ethic! Be kind, people!! End of the rant.
