anyone think that

it would be cool if they remade/updated this movie? and set it in like present times with a hot young cast....

same elements and villians and all....

i just thought it would be cool if they re did it to show new horror fans how much fun the old classic horror mvies (stereotypical car breaks dwn in front of scary house) because this movie really did set the basis for all horror films thereafter....

i know remakes can not be that great, but if done right it could be pretty cool

They've tried remaking many horror classics, like The Haunting and House on Haunted Hill. It doesn't work. They have all been bombs.

No remakes please. How about some original concepts for once.

And this one WAS remade in 1963. I've never seen the remake, but have heard it wasn't nearly as good.

Now if someone who liked the film were inspired to make a movie today that had some of the same basic premises, but wasn't an actual remake, it might be interesting. It would still probably be disappointing in the end, though.

The 63 version was hideous and had a totally different plot.

I'd like to see a remake but because the story has become cliche, it wouldn't work.

Good point about the cliche element. Just like Stagecoach, nearly everything the ODH originated was copied to death by its genre. Any attempt to really remake it would likely come off as parody.

It's still a creepy story, in 1932 or 2010...in my opinion.

And what would some young director do with it to thrill today's audiences? Well, we'd have to have lots of blood and gore. several nude or topless scenes of the female cast members and throw in some god-awful "syfi-channel-style" Bulgarian CGI effects that look like they were put together on a Mac Plus from 1990. Oh yeah and make it 3D by all means.

My point is that you should be happy with the '32 version as it would simply be wrecked by some "nobody's" artistic vision as he no doubt would feel it had to be updated for today's audience.
