Not that I am aware of. This, in my humble opinion, is one of the few classic films that should be remade though many others are despite the fact that they should not be. This deserves a good remake that is true to the short story yet a full length film. The 1932 is good and I like it a lot but I really love the short story. I probably would not want a remake if the existing film was a full length one. But now I am rambling. Oh well.

The hunting humans genre include Walter Hill's Southern Comfort, more recently the British horror film Wilderness and the indie film Naked Fear, Cornel Wilde's The Naked Prey, of course Boorman's Deliverance, Aaron (Chuck's brother) Norris in Overkill, and for strictly hunting humans as game there's Death Ring with Mike Norris (Chuck's son), John Woo's Hard Target, Michael Dudikoff in Avenging Force, and Ice T in Surviving the Game. All of the above are good films, of course some better than others, Deliverance and The Naked Prey are now considered classsics along with The Most Dangerous Game. Any additions to the list are welcome.

There were also a few "Deliverance" knock-offs, most notably "Rituals" and "Hunter's Blood".

There's a fabulous movie called Open Season with Peter Fonda that's essentially based on TMDG but its almost impossible to find. Alternate title is The Recon Game. Try to find a widescreen version with foreign subtitles, those have the extended version with the complete ending.

Oddly the plot of that film anticipated Alaskan serial killer Robert Hansen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Hansen) who kidnapped prostitutes, took them to his secluded hunting cabin, raped and abused them, then set them loose in the woods & hunted them down for an extra kick.

Thank you! I will begin my search for this immediately.

Funny that you mention this. I reread TMDG only a few weeks ago, and then did a little Internet follow-up. I was mighty surprised to run across the same name you've mentioned above, as this was someone I hadn't even heard of. Surprisingly, because I'm pretty well versed in serial killers.

The indie film "Naked Fear" is supposedly based on those antics, read here, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0943326/board/flat/133810518?p=1
Focus is on the ordeal of one of his victims, low budget but pretty good film imho. The CBS television show Criminal Minds also did an episode in which 2 brothers well versed in the wilderness kidnap and hunt young women.
