my idea for a remake

Idris Elba is an educated engineer back from afghanistan when his cousin takes him to a diner which turns into a hold up....despite his veteran status, and proclaimed innocence, his lawyer is incompetent and hes sent away for 10 years...he escapes and works his way up in construction becoming a pilliar of his community, but is found out...at first the governor won't extradite him, but pressure and a 'well meaning' 'deal' that he can go back and be pardoned, set him to return, only to be sent back to the chain gang and the victim of brutal conditions...then the state ADDS time to his sentance for his escape, and a pardon is theown out the window. He breaks out again and seeks his girl at the end...she srys they can run away together but he tells her that won't happen...he's living off the grid and they'll never take him alive. He steps into darkness saying "I was a citizen of this city, but THEY made me into the hardedned criminal I am, now and forever..."
