i seen a clip of his transformation on youtube besides the fact that it was incredible the way he had command over his facial muscles .It actually scared me i really believed that man was a freak of nature .Even by today's standards it was frightening .He was just basically using himself not a whole lot of effect's except his body .Gave me the chills i've never seen it done that way before .

Yeah...
The special f/x were way ahead of their time. I remember seeing this film as a kid on the midnight movie/TV... I don't remember it being that sexually overt...
Now that might have been cause I was like 8 years old & didn't understand the adult undertones, or they may have edited the film for family viewing.
A great film, nonetheless.

For the era it was very well done and effective. I can imagine filmgoers being scared witless at the time.
