Father/Daughter Relationship

This movie has the creepiest father/daughter relationship I've ever seen. Starting with when she greets him when he gets off the train, kissing him over and over. I thought it was a girlfriend, but no, she's his daughter! They kiss on the mouth multiple times in this movie, and not just little pecks like you see in a lot of movies. How about when she's laying on the bed and he leans down and kisses her? And when he asks her to go out in the garden with him and they can have their own romance - just weird. And really their demeanor through the whole movie is very much like a husband and wife.

I couldn't help wondering if this was the effect the director was going for, or does he think this is appropriate behavior from a father/daughter relationship where the father has raised her own his own?
