It is coming on TCM on July 2, 2008 (Wednesday) at 12:30 P.M. EST!

Please be sure to check your local tv guide for the time in your area. This one has been remade so many times and all of the remakes are good but this one is the best in my opinion and is the original. Adolphe Menjou is hilarious in it and should have got an oscar nomination if he didn't get one. Enjoy!

I missed the first half, but I have to wonder if there doesn't exist a better print than the awful one they showed today. It looked like a typical public domain video coompany copy.

From the 2nd half alone, I'd have to say that I definitely liked the His Girl Friday re-working a lot better, the TFP was still good.

Adolphe Menjou did get an Oscar nomination. But that year the competition was tough: Lionel Barrymore won for his dramatic performance in A Free Soul. He was a washed-up lawyer similar to the one Paul Newman would play over half a century later in The Verdict, with one last case to redeem himself. (Only LB's was a defense lawyer.)

TFP was also nominated for Best Picture. The winner that year was Cimarron.
