Hot woman

Cockeyed and all Norma Shearer was sexy.
This is the first film I noticed her much talked about "lazy eye"-but she has quite a figure.

I just logged in to come across a old post.
Norma was a true beauty. The variety of roles after she married Irving Thalberg but before The Women were impressive sex kitten roles.
Her scene on the couch with Gable in A Free Soul was to be cut.Just the suggestion of sex was too much-all she does is open her arms and say-"come on,put them around me"-very sexy woman.

Agreed. TMC showed Private Lives and A Free Soul back to back and I must say Shearer looks stunning.

She had a dynamite figure for the times...especially her backside.

I would've definitely excelled at skiing had I live back then.

In that slinky dress, and obviously bra-less; YES, she was well built! NOT a stick-&-bones frame like so many 'today'. The crossed eyes are 'sexy' too!

I am Shocked that no Subject has yet been Devoted to the Co-Star of this Film, The Slinky Silky Dress Norma wears to Grandma's Party and Gables apt. It is one of the Stars. It is a pre Code marvel that could be worn today and be just as daringly sexy. Norma is obviously wearing no underwear under it- which is a super bit of Winking at the first scene where Norma brazenly shows how little underwear she wears and then socks it to us by wearing none in the next scenes. Great set-up, great pre-code stuff.

The Dress Design is flawless: it is cut to slide over her body in all the right ways so that she appears naked without being naked. Look how she poses in it so that it shows all her -um- assets to perfection. You see, costume designers in the days of old Hollywood studios took Design of stars gowns extremely seriously, almost like a script or director detail. Every single stance and step she took was worked out shot by shot, angle by angle, frame by frame, to make her the most alluring and most sexually suggestive she could be. Norma should have been given an Award for knowing how to wear a Dress in Film- a lost Art. She and the Dress spoke pages of dialogue WITHOUT Saying a word. And the words spoken were also good.

It hit me recently that all great movies that have been made, are all that will ever be made. These Stars these Directors These Costume Designers- that's done, Norma Shearer has left the building. And I realized that once I've seen all the Black and White Films, there won't be any more to see. That really hit me hard.

So if you love The Great Old Movies, let's give Honor to that Dress and Norma
