Little boy above table

I watched this movie this morning for the first time and I can't believe no one has commented on the little black boy lying on a platform fanning the family. This was the most outrageous thing I have seen in the movies since Gone with the Wind. Did people in the 1930's find this normal? It was so cruel. Any others find this disturbing?

In a film made 80 years ago portraying a time 120 years ago? Not really. Times change, attitudes change. Would you be offended if you saw a caveman dragging a girl to his cave? A viking pillaging? And these acts are much more horrifying than a boy fanning people.

Yeah but it was funny as hell. I guess this (slave fan the fly) had to be true at one time in the upper class homes. I hope they only included that shot in the movie for comic relief?

Today's offense is yesterday's history. Guess people did not realize they would not be politically correct.
