An antihero film the way antihero films should be.

You have Caesar Enrico Bandello, villain that people can relate to and can almost side with, Sergeant Flaherty, an administrator of justice who is about as unlikeable an hero as you can get, Joe Massara, a measure by which one can do right where the antihero did wrong, and an ending which sees justice served, but still allots sympathy for the badguy. As the film opens with a Biblical foreword about living by violence, we were told from the beginning that there could be but one fate for a man such as Rico:

~~for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Matthew 26.52

"Attempted murder? Now honestly, what is that? Do they give a Nobel Prize for attempted chemistry?"

I agree. I don't much care for antihero movies, but I like this one. By the way, I found Flaherty very likeable.
