They seem to make the professor look a bit like Einstein?

Another of the characters seems to have copied the hair style of Hitler. On other other hand, that was probably a popular look in those days.

Giant words come at us from the top of the screen. Wonder if the makers of Star Wars were inspired by that.

The slow, deliberate way that machinery moves into place. That seems reminiscent of a lot of later science fiction films.

Was the main character called Helius as a tribute to George Melies, who had made what was probably the first moon trip movie? Names are kind of similar. I don't think Helius is a common German surname.

The effects are pretty good, but the look of the moon as they are orbiting it was a little off. Once they land there was way too much sand as well.

Some sections run a bit slow for a modern audience.

I liked the film overall, but it would probably also be ripe for a Mystery Theater 3000 treatment.
