Watch this movie with Morricone's 'The Mission'
I discovered something really interesting. I had a VHS of this film that was made from the 80s laserdisk. I watched it once and enjoyed the film but really did not like the synthesized soundtrack. I understand the DVD has a new better soundtrack but I first watched the movie about 5 years ago before that soundtrack was made. With silent movies if I don't like the soundtrack that goes with the movie, and these usually are not original soundtracks, I will sometimes substitute classical music or music from other films.
So here is my accidental discovery -- the movie "The Unknown" goes perfectly with Ennio Morricone's "The Mission" soundtrack. In fact even the length of the film matches the sountrack, at least on the LP version of the soundtrack that I have. Not only does the music go really well with the film for various reasons, such as the Spanish themed musical subtexts in Morricone's work, but there are many, many synchronicities that are almost disturbing. I really recommend that people try this out, and I'd love to hear if anyone else agrees with me that these 2 could have been made for each other.
Did I not love him, Cooch? MY OWN FLESH I DIDN'T LOVE BETTER!!! But he had to say 'Nooooooooo'
