Echo gets off? (spoilers)


Because he confesses to being an accessory to murder, Echo is let go scott free? He is at least guilty of thefts if they believe the others did the murders (& are now dead and unable to contradict him) but I find it hard to believe he'd walk. The ending of the sound version is more realistic.

Plus, wouldn't people realize at some point that all those birds don't talk? I guess non-talking birds are cheaper but this would draw attention to itself in time.

Yep. It's a contrivance so we get that last scene with Echo performing. The talkie remake actually has Echo sent to prison, which is far more logical for the reasons you put down here.
