Could a remake ever work?
What do you think?
15 I feel so old!!
I've often tried to think of a way to remake it. Of course you could do lots of cool CGI stuff, but the amount of detail in this film is so staggering that it's not likely that a worthy remake will come out of America. I also always thought a film about it's making would be interesting.
shareMy professor at The University of the Arts is a film critic named Sam Adams. We watched this film in class and he said that he had talked to Alejandro González Iñárritu at a film festival last year and he said that, after Babel, he was thinking about remaking Intolerance. Iñárritu was the director of Amores Perros and 21 Grams.
I think a remake by him would be fascinating
The question is why a remake hasn't been done yet. Is there a reason that nobody tries it? Anybody?
Marianne
I'll remake it, just to show all of you. There, now somebody has officially said they would.

There is one man who may remake this film. That is Ridley Scott. I sent a post similar to this one under his name. With KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and GLADIATOR he proved to be not only a good epic director but also a man who can add the psychological universal message to his films. What do you think?
Cinema is a good way of escaping from problems and sorrows of life.
I guess it's more a matter of taste. I don't think Ridley Scott would be the right choice an Intolerance remake. I think he would focus a little too much on the violence. For my money, give me Peter Jackson. We know he can direct on both huge and small scales, which is important for a movie like this, plus he is escpecially good at finding the right emotional levels for each scene with actors, music, cinematography, and all other elements. Or everyone working today, he would be my only choice.

A previous poster said: "Alejandro González Iñárritu at a film festival last year said that, after Babel, he was thinking about remaking Intolerance. Iñárritu was the director of Amores Perros and 21 Grams."
That's really amusing, cause I was thinking that exact thought while watching the film. "This reminds me of Babel and Crash, you could remake this..."
Everyday feels like Sunday.
Why remake it? Crash is similar enough and already won.
shareRidley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven was just anti-christian propaganda. Gladiator was a well executed film, but I don't think Scott has much to his credit considering how many truly awful films he has made.
If I had to suggest a director, I would probably say Mel Gibson. He has some controversial pictures, and he couldn't make just any film, but I think that Intolerance is a film he could do very well.
