'THIS FILM IS JUST A WAY FOR GRIFFITH TO SHAKE OFF THE 'RACIST' LABEL'

Anyone who says that knows nothing about Griffith, his career (even before Birth of a Nation) and should just shut up.

Intolerance is a masterpiece.

That is all.

Honestly, I don't care at all if he made this movie to shake of the "racist" label.

It is still a wonderful work of art.

Ignore this post and disregard everything I told you in it, including this sentence.

I'm a huge Griffith fan and I love Intolerance, but it's pretty clear that he made this film as an apology for Birth of a Nation. Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in denial.

Most of the taglines for his non-shorts show nothing approximating that decscription, and I sure don't feel like reading through over a dozen shorts. What is the title of this 'film', and are you sure the blacks were not played by whites in black-face?

He didn't make this movie to prove he wasn't a racist. He made this movie to prove that he is a racist and should be allowed to be one. That's where the whole Intolerance comes from. Griffith is accusing his attackers of not tolerating his opinions. If you truly watched this movie then you'd see that since it's pretty much stated a few times on the movie.

I would say of the OP and the responders on this post, charlesdusk comes closest to the truth. This is very evident in the architect of the movie.
