Did I miss something?
I have to admit that I put off seeing this film for decades even though I had seen most of Griffith's classics. Four hours! It was broadcast on TCM this evening and I decided to watch a few minutes and ended up watching the whole movie. I was never bored. It is some kind of great film. Now my questions.
Was the crucifixion in the film? I saw some shots of Jesus carrying the cross but I never saw him on the cross. Did I miss it or was this an edited version?
Now on to a matter of taste (mine). Am I the only one who thought that "The Dear One" in the modern story spent entirely too little time trying to get her baby back. In fact I was waiting for the family (The Dear One, The Boy, the baby) to be reunited as the film ended with the proverbial happy ending. Was anyone else disappointed?
