shareThis film is as much "artwork" as is a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training video: complete and utter lack of anything artistic whatsoever. The only reason this film remains important is because of the myth involving spectators jumping out of there seats in fear of the oncoming train projected before them, and because it was one of the first, though not the first, film, and thus is novel and shown to bored film students everywhere.
I don't mean to offend, but don't waste your bandwidth or your patience--you'll see a train pull up to a station--WOW. This should not be amazing in this day and age.
Well that's one way of looking at it.
Personally I think that, boring as the film may seem, it is incredibly moving to sit back and think, "This is where it all started.", as you watch it. This, along with La Sortie des usines Lumière, represent the first step towards the most recent matured art form, and the one most embraced by our generation. It is an incredible thing to behold. This is not boring.

You posted this before I started Primary school. In a sense, in terms of the Internet your post is as ancient as the film in subject. But I am still annoyed by your post sir. You will likely never see this reply, but the melancholy I feel with this film far outmatched the idiocy of your post, which in itself was of the highest order of ignorance.
shareBrilliant.
