Wow, there were that many films made in that year! And they're all French!

But my lips hurt real bad!

I prefer L'Arroseur arrosé, because it is the first film with some sort of plot and it's funnier to watch. Although I have to say that L'Arrivée d'un train à La Ciotat is more iconic.

L'Arroseur arrosé, although elementary in its niche, definitely can make a movie buff chuckle. Mainly because of the sudden appearance of water, which, frankly, can seem funny if misused to wet one's clothes, face, etc. *insert appropriate smiley here*

"L'arrivée" to me would appear to be a drama or perharps a documentary, whereas "L'Arroseur" falls in the section of comedy. Hard to compare, thus. - But then again, a fan is toujours biaised.

That made me seriously laugh out loud

Lol. I'm replying to every post here as a joke, and so far everything has added something!

I prefer the work of Georges Melies; I would say "Le Manoir du Diable" is the best film of 1896
