Considering that white people are in the process of becoming minorities in their own countries ( and we all know how that worked out for the Jews and considering the hatred that is being directed at whites ) what is wrong with Richard Spencer talking about homelands for white people ? It seems sensible and reasonable to me.

What American leftists ARE opposed to is turning the United States into a white ethnostate. That would require expelling all non-whites from the country, and the policies necessary to make this happen would need to be extremely authoritarian. There were non-whites living in the United States since its inception, modern white nationalists try to re-write history and make it seem like a white ethnostate would be a return to something that never actually existed in this country. What DID exist were laws that were discriminatory against non-whites, but not laws that prevented non-whites from living in the country
If people who believe in a white ethnostate want to occupy a piece of uninhabited land and create their own sovereign white nation, I don't think anyone would try to stop them. But what white supremacists like Spencer REALLY want is to take control of a current first-world Western nation and re-write its laws to remove all non-whites
In theory there may be nothing racist about the idea of an exclusively all-white nation, but in order to create it in practice in the way that the Spencers of the world want it it would absolutely require policies that are, in effect, the same as those used in Nazi Germany to expel all Jews from the country. That is why many people use the blanket term "Nazi" to describe people like Spencer. It isn't because they're stupid or brainwashed and are misunderstanding their message, it's because if you actually get into the nitty gritty about how these ideas would come into effect you see that it would essentially be Nazism all over again
