Chaos walking
Fabulous YA trilogy - hope the powers that be or whoever get it made.
shareI wonder who is going to play Todd... I heard Nick Robinson from Jurassic World.
shareGreat books. I think It will be an adaptation, because the main characters are teens in the book. Daisy as Viola Eade will be amazing.
shareGod no! Robinson is a charisma black hole. He's not going to be able to carry the filmm. A movie like that needs someone like Tom Holland or Tye Sheridan.
shareI do not think I share the same sentiment. To me, it looks like another book series you'd find in the Family Dollar. Second, it's teen sci-fi, and the market is over-saturated. Three, it's made by Summit, which has a poor reputation amongst cinephiles (and is infamous for interfering with filmmakers). Seeing Daisy join a film like this is a huge waste of her talents, and it will stall any momentum she has.
shareOr they could switch it up and have Daisy's character lead. In the first book, Viola is more of a supporting character and I'm suspecting they're beefing up her parts to accommodate Ridley. It's a fact, Daisy is not taking on any roles where she's going to be playing a supporting character or just the girlfriend. Ridley is being very picky with the roles and she's not desperate enough to be in need of money or public attention.
shareShe also needs to carry another franchise that is outside of Star Wars and avoid its curse to some of the actors. It's not a guarantee like Star Wars because there are more bombs from YA novels than hits. Look at the disasters in Percy jackson, Maze Runner, Immortal Instruments, The Host, Divergent, etc. The only YA that managed to score huge were the Twilight Series and Hunger Games. This will either propel her to a legit box office star or pile her under, " actors/actresses who can't open films."
shareAs much as I want to see her become a box-office juggernaut, I just don't see that happening. For me, the quality of the work is way more important than the money
shareI know what you mean, but that's what these big stars do now. Take on potential blockbusters to keep their names relevant and make more money. Then, they go on to tackle small indie projects with little pay to maintain their artsyness. And then there are those that just care about making money because they're just not good enough for the dramatic chops like Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Arnold, etc.. So, one shouldn't be snobs towards those guys because they have the talent to make people laugh or escape from reality when they see them on the big screen.
