About Daisy leaving Instagram for a while, and some people being stupid

Good grief! All Daisy Ridley did was talk about how heartbroken she was over a performance on stage for the victims of gun violence and some people felt the need to bash her on Instagram. What the hell! How is hating violence of any kind worthy of a person being bashed over that. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Some guy even had the nerve to say to her that she "lacks basic knowledge" Um.... what? Again, all she did was talk about her feelings for an event she saw on stage where the victims were being talked about. That's it! So how is that "lacking knowledge"? It's amazing how stupid some people are. They're mad at her for simply expressing her opinion about a performance she saw and all of a sudden she's being "too political". It's absolutely pathetic.

Hope her videos are still there when she returns

I know right!! People just can't read. Somehow, crying over death due to gun violence and a call to stop the violence means you're being political? It's just common sense and showing empathy. Hell, I will always want world peace, but I don't give a damn about politics. And what about those that can't separate fiction from reality. "Hey Daisy, didn't I see you use a blaster in Star Wars? You're such a hypocrite." I bet if she called to end world hunger, someone would say, " Hey Daisy, didn't I see you eat in The Force Awakens?"

Daisy chose the wrong time to leave Instagram in order to spend less time on her phone. She could've just deleted her post, like the other times, so the idiots won't have the satisfaction that they were responsible for her hiatus.

Now, I really miss her sunshine on Instagram.

This! Thankfully, many of her pictures and videos are still on Facebook, but so much other stuff is now gone.  Maybe its out there somewhere floating online, I don't know. As another poster said, hopefully it will resurface if and when Daisy decides to return to Instagram.

I don't know how actors' contracts work. The feeling I get is that those contracts often include clauses where the actors have to promote the films. This most likely includes going on talk shows, and maybe social media promotion. If I'm correct (some one correct me, if not), then I imagine Daisy might feel prodded to re-open her Instagram account once it comes time to promote her next film. Just a guess, though.

I do hope that Daisy returns to Instagram soon, or at least picks up the slack on her still-open Facebook account. Also really hope her feelings weren't too hurt during this unnecessary backlash (both sides of the argument were being very toxic and snobby. I avoided any politics, and just complimented Daisy on her award and new hair color).

I doubt there are studio contracts for using social media. That DaisyRidleyFanclub poster is full of hogwash citing that was the reason for her departure. She even stated before the teen awards that she was looking forward to sharing better stuff since she's employed again than posting filtered selfies. And now? Something new and personal is going on with Daisy because she had no problem posting during the long filming of episode 8.

Here's my suspicion: I think she and Charlie Hamblett are just friends now. It was evident that they didn't spend important dates together this year. New Years Eve was spent with her mom in Miami and her birthday was celebrated in LA with her sis.

I suspect there is someone new, older, yes richer, influencing her to get off social media and it just happened to coincide with her recent "anti-gun" post that the media unnecessarily blew up. Daisy doesn't have any problems deleting posts and comments that are out of line, but this recent one gave her more reasons to get off her phone and live in the present.

Interesting food for thought there, Pallasbrenna. Thanks!

I do recall the posts you are referring to. So, when Daisy did delete her Instagram account, it was all the more sad, because she had said there would be a lot more interesting posts on the way just a few days prior. Things changed quickly, I guess.

Why just gun violence, though? By singling out guns she made it political. There are a lot of tragic ways to die without a gun being used.

I've seen things that would make you want to write a book on how to puke.

Agreed. She made a lot of meaningful posts with good messages. Particularly the one where she mentioned her Endometriosis.
