Customizing a car is one thing... permanently marring your skin is something totally different. If you get tired of the car, you can sell it. When you get a sleazy tattoo, you are stuck with it unless you want to go through the pain and expense of surgical removal which still leaves scars.

For example, you better use preferred pronouns like "they" to describe a single person who wishes to be referred to that way, or else prepare to be ostracized as some-identity-or-other-phobe.
