Not so brilliant
It's a myth that he was a brilliant general. The fact he was so successful is due to the Union generals were just plain useless. Read history, they had no clue.

shareI LOVE READ HISTORY...ONE DAY MAKE MOVIE...BIG HOLLYWOOD MOVIE...YOU WILL SEE,BABYFACE! NOEMOJI
shareWhich big Hollywood movie was made about him?
shareWhat?!
You read history. He WAS brilliant!
His ability and leadership showed up early in life when he was at West Point.
He was a great soldier and general!

Absolutely was. His allies and enemies alike respected him. The man was a hero in every sense of the word except one. He picked the losing side.
People seem to forget he was first person offered command of the Union forces but felt his loyalty was to Virgina first. After the war the Army was looking to get him back into service and the government offered him a full pardon. But someone "lost" his application and the offer expired. In the 1970s it was found where it had been stashed and the pardon was granted posthumously.
The OP is just jealous. Not only does he attempt to insult Robert E. Lee (and fails miserably) he wrote "Union generals were just plain useless".
A sad little man who knows nothing about history.
The Union generals were cowardly and knew nothing of war. They sent so many men to their deaths.

Right.
I bet if you were in the Union army at the Battle of Antietam you would have soiled your pants and ran away.
Easy to judge officers and soldiers from a keyboard sipping hot cocoa or whatever it is you are drinking.
Robert E. Lee was brilliant. He was a great general.

the op saying that says more about him than it does about Lee.

We can diminish Lee's reputation for intelligence by insulting the intelligence of the Union generals he was up against. That's one way I guess..
I don't know why, Strntz but I loled at your post. Lee was smart but boy did he make a blunder at Gettysburg on the 3rd day of battle.

That was a mistake, sure, (he made several mistakes actually) but at the end of the day, the South had no chance of winning (stalemating) the war. Desperate times often cause high risk, high reward gambles.
In any case, despite Gettysburg, Lee was highly regarded by the Northern generals.
For a comparison all can understand. Lee was like a Special Ed teacher in a classroom full of Union retards.
shareWhile you definitely can't argue with your statement "the Union generals were just plain useless,"(before Grant anyway[and Meade sorta but he basically just lucked out!]) Lee was, in fact a brilliant general...Somehow I doubt that Abe would have offered him command of the Union army if he wasn't!
