Every celebrity gets shit online

She didn't get cut because of trolls. Her part was cut because her character sucks. EVERY celebrity on social media gets negativity, harrassment and threats. A lot of them are getting rid of or not using social media for this very reason. Yup, the internet is full of assholes, is anyone actually surprised to hear this anymore? Every actor that has a movie that flops, or didn't get a part, or didn't get as much screentime could say the same thing. Why are we giving this nonsense our attention?

reply

No kidding. It just blew up.... same reason we are not seeing Jar-Jar again.

reply

Yeah, sometimes something in a movie doesn't work, so you move on.

reply

Yes, every celebrity gets shit online and runs the risk of trolling, but people are talking about Tran because the Star Wars fandom contains so many vicious, petty, small-minded, no-life idiot loser fanboy racist sexist assholes, who refuse to accept any accountability for their behavior no matter how many times they're called on their shit.

This is why I stay out of the fandom. Love the movie, hate many of the fans.

reply

Great generalization of less than 0.01% of fans.

You and all the media cannot distinguish between dickhead trolls who will just trash anyone and anything and actual criticism from real dedicated fans who love whatever they are fans of, we are not just talking Star Wars.

Well i'm sorry but grow up. Criticism comes in all forms and sometimes it is brutally honest and can be hurtful but it is still criticism.

I'm sick to death of being called a popular ism or sexist or racist because i don't like said movie or actor. It's the modern lazy way to attack people who do not like your work. It's like you are not allowed to criticise anymore, you can only praise. We are meant to just tow the line and love whatever Disney throws out but i'm sorry it doesn't work like that.

When you start using words like bullying and harassment it takes away from what those words really mean and does a disservice to people who are really dealing with bullying and harassment. It is the same when vegans call milking cows "sexual assault" it takes away from men and woman who are dealing with sexual assault.

Sorry, i digress i got wound up earlier so i apologise in advance, none of this is aimed at you personally, i'm just tired of fans being generalized and described as all the words you put above. Fans are none of those, they just dispise what has happened to there beloved Star Wars and i'm one of them.

The internet will always have trolls, dickheads and assholes, that will never change. But these people are not fans. Toxic fans is media driven nonsense. Fans will praise when good and criticise when bad but they are still fans, you cannot have only fans that praise. Criticism is a good thing, without it you cannot learn, you cannot get better.

Star Wars fans kept this franchise alive and relevant for 40 years. Orginal trilogy toys and collectibles walk off the shelves atevery comic con, Disney trilogy toys sit and gather dust. Disney and it's cronies are the ones destroying it.

Called it in advance.

reply

Called what exactly?

Explain?

EXCELLENT POST...AGREE ENTIRELY.

It's a larger fan base, but the percentage is the same fir shitty fans. You sign on for the biggest franchise in the world, do you really expect less? Even if she knew it was a shit role and a shit script, it's doubtful she'd care because it's a star wars movie, who'd pass that up? With a huge and popular franchise comes fanatics that you wouldn't see in a small movie. So you get one or the other, but you don't get to have your cake and eat it too.

Vicious assholes are actually a very small percentage of fans and people on internet. The problem is that they are a very visible minority.

Take your own case, for example. Unlike you, most people in this forum don't insult other users. However, there's an small percentage that keep insulting again and again. It's not frequent, but it's very visible.

It would be unfair to say that most people here are impolite or lack manners, just because of a few people like you. 😃
