To me racism has to have a harmful and negative effect on the victim. Please god help me, I'm about to defend Angelina Jolie.... There's a HUGE difference between the Marianne Pearl and Queen Anne situation here. The most important being that Brad Pitt's company Plan B purchased the rights to Marianne's book and Marianne approved of Jolie's casting. The only thing she asked was that they tell Daniel's story respectfully, and they did. Marianne was consulted every step of the way giving her complete control over her own story. Queen Anne doesn't get this same respect by being colour swapped. I do not condone any sort of meanness when it comes to Ms. Turner-Smith's obvious colour. Notice I did not use the term racism because there is no white race or black race. We are all one HUMAN RACE. So what are termed "racist" remarks means one hates the human race or they hate humans when they're being racist. What I and other have a gripe with Ms. Turner-Smith is her entitlement and her blindness about accepting a role where she clearly was not the correct colour and yes, historical accuracy. Marianne Pearl agreed with Jolie's casting and was happy with the result. So now since Ms. Turner-Smith apparently is oblivious to the fact her colour is the reason she was cast due to this faux "woke" bile that's spewing these days, I'd like to ask her if casting Tom Hanks as Dr. Martin Luther King would be acceptable given her idiocy over her right to play a very white Queen Anne.

So if this were the other way around and a white woman were playing say Rosa Parks, or Winnie Mandela, or Michelle Obama, the uproar would be loud and to the point of deafening. The point here is other productions are being held to a different standard in casting. We've seen voice actors being fired because they're not voicing the "right" colour. Yet here is an example where a clearly black woman is playing the whitest of white historical character and we're supposed to turn a blind eye because of her colour and the "inclusive" part of the acting profession?
