One issue, I think, is Rubio looks too young. People used to talk about his experience when, in truth, he was no less experienced than Ted Cruz. The issue is that Cruz looks older while Rubio looks like boy wonder.
The other issue is that Trump was hard to beat in 2016
Rubio and Cruz are not as popular as their handlers like to project to be. Sure, they may be monikers in the GOP but broader appeal? I just don't see it. Many of their defenders will argue that voters have short term memory and won't remember their stances and complicity while Trump was POTUS. They're wrong because every election cycle has commercials that bring up the past. Why do you think Trump's campaign dug up 30 year old footage of Biden as Senator talking tough on crime and associating it with Racism even though Joe didn't utter any Racist remarks?

Trump, for all his flaws, is a shameless fighter with a knack for labels.
Hit hit it in the nose with that one during the debate, knowing that the put down would be repeated forever by the media, he might as well have knocked him out cold.

shareLow-energy Jeb was pretty damaging. We have had so many bad Presidents, and worse Presidential candidates. The good ones are few and far between, in the 20th century FDR, Kennedy, Johnson, and hopefully Biden. It was a shame that Johnson got mired in the Viet Nam War and he didn't even want to.
