Why has there been no post from Dylan or his Reps?

Just got finished watching the Maze Runner on HBO and realized I had not heard anything from social media on Dylan obrien since briefly hearing about his accident back in March. I find it strange no Twitter/ press statement from or anything from him or any of his representatives, unless I am mistaken. You would think there would be at least a message, even just a thank you for the well wishes from friends and fans. The only thing I read that was Tyler Posey saying that Dylan was good and at home, but that was in April!! I hope he is really ok, but I just think especially in this day and age with social media so prolific, when people post on Instagram and Twitter even while still in the hospital after accidents and illnesses it's really strange the silence. What are your thoughts?

You are not mistaken, he's been totally absent online. His sister did a quick tweet maybe a week-two weeks ago, saying he's doing well but still needs a bit more rest. The producers of TW said a few weeks ago that he wouldn't be expected on set for the start of filming for the season - but that he was okay-ed to work but not do stunts - strange that they wouldn't have him at least do his speaking parts and just use a double for his stunts if that really was the case.

I have a feeling he is worse off then they've been trying to play it. If it really was a case that he's recovered very well you'd think he would have said something by now - maybe not go into details of what happened, but at least that he is ok and that he knows people were wishing him a quick recovery.
I think he's suffered some long lasting injuries - possibly damaged nerves in his face, or scaring, neurological damage, maybe he's suffered a permanent physical injuries that will prevent him from working anytime soon.

The handling of his situation has been disjointed to say the least. There's been some conflicting information. Many sources have said Dylan's injuries are severe, including Dylan's publicist, who released a short, one-sentence statement very recently (last week, I think). Giancarlo Esposito said the same a couple of weeks after it happened in March. So we've been told the damage is severe. Ok.

But then on May 10th it comes out that Dylan is in talks to star in the film American Assassin, which then showed up on his IMDB. Then a few days later, Jeff Davis says Dylan's "...in perfect condition, but he's just not doing fine enough to do any stunts." Also a couple other cast members from Teen Wolf said there is no truth to the rumor that Dylan won't be back to film season 6, and that's he's due back on set very soon.

This past week, WorksafeBC released the findings of their investigation into this and found both the director, Wes Ball, and the studio, 20th Century Fox, to have been negligent. Apparently they had rehearsed a scene, and then scrapped that scene for a different one, and gave Dylan insufficient instruction for the new scene, which involved him hopping from one moving vehicle to another. Also there was a problem with his harness being too short, that played a significant part in the resulting incident.

That's all I know. There's some fog surrounding this. Perhaps part of the reason for that is legal complications? If his injuries are as serious as some have suggested, and it affects his future ability to work, it's possible that a lawsuit is coming. I doubt it, though. I agree that it's strange that there have been no pictures or video, no social media postings, nothing from him since this happened. I mean I get the need to have him keep a low profile while this all plays out, but he seems to be completely off the grid. If he's really ok, then why is that necessary?

What if he has brain damage? I also think its strange there hasn't been a peep from him since the accident.

reply

God I hope not. But I'm just going to assume that if it was something permanent like brain damage, Jeff Davis would never have said Dylan's in perfect condition.

I have been waiting to hear something from him ever since the accident happened. This silence is strange- but would´t his publicist and reps have dealt with this differently if he really was so severely hurt?

reply

Perhaps. I think either way they'd want to keep the public as in the dark about the extent of his injuries as much as they can, like they are right now. After all, Dylan is still attached to the Maze Runner 3. So even though his healing takes precedent, he and his management team still have to think about Fox, and try not to make Fox look any worse than they already do at this point. And there could be legal issues that further complicate things. So releasing bare-minimum details about the accident and having Dylan stay completely out of the public eye is probably their best option.
