I think Dylan is a very talented young man. But all of these action movies he's doing aren't showing his talent. I get the impression it's what he loves to do and I guess that makes sense being a young guy filled with testosterone! But I would love to see him do a drama along the lines of Philadelphia, Sophie's Choice or Primal Fear. I think that is where he will really shine.
shareOh my god, yes. I think about this all the time! I really hope he's not looking to become a Tom Cruise type. It would just be such a waste of his natural talent at dramatic acting. A few of his emotional performances in Teen Wolf actually brought me to tears, which is very rare for me with TV shows. I also think he would be very good at playing villainous roles.
But his career is still in its infancy. Plenty of time for him to change direction. When I think of an actor whose career I would like to see Dylan mirror, Leonardo DiCaprio is the first one that comes to mind. Dylan has a very similar natural on-screen charisma as Leo. I really think he has the capability to be an Academy Award winning actor some day, if he makes the right career choices.
Dylan is still a young guy. I'm hoping his best work will come in his thirties. Much like with DiCaprio. Dylan is too good to waste on wham bam action roles alone.
shareI just think he wasn't offered those roles. He said it himself that he wasn't really great at auditions. He landed Deepwater which led executives to cast him in American Assassin. If that movie is good and he's great in it, that could open up many possibilities for him.
