Sexually traumatized as a child

Too bad. About the trauma and not wanting to get naked onscreen.

Actress Jameela Jamil was scheduled to audition for a supporting role in Season 4 of the series You (2018) but made the last-minute decision to back out because she didn’t want to film sex scenes and nudity. She explained it stemmed from childhood sexual trauma and a general desire to protect herself and avoid sexual objectification.

Happy to walk around in skimpy outfits tho

Just means she's got some lines she doesn't want to cross. Everybody's entitled to those. Better than taking the role and then demanding it change because of her personal boundaries and/or beliefs. I just watched an interview with Stephen Tobolowsky where he talks about Steven Seagal deciding part-way through filming a movie that he (Seagal) was anti-killing and didn't want his (schlock action movie) character to kill anybody.

She mentions that in the article. Says she wears tight outfits and shows cleavage, but that’s as far as she’ll go.

Sounds like she rather enjoys being sexually objectified...

You suck at trolling

"Oh no I have sexual trauma, now look at my boobs and legs everyone!"

No shame with some women

If she didn't want to do a nude scene, thats up to her.

But why on earth did she feel the need to share the trauma of her sexual assault with the world?

It's no one else's business but hers, and she does not need to explain the reasons why she does not want to appear nude.

It smacks of attention seeking, and a pathetic 'cry for help'.

TBF, she didn't explain what the sexual trauma was. Did she even use the word 'assault'? It could have been anything, from something terrible and disturbing, to something that wouldn't *seem* to be that significant to other people (like, say, accidentally spying adults naked/engaged in sex at an early age). But it's her prerogative to process whatever it was as she likes, and in her favour she's not pointing fingers or claiming to have had a rough life. Like I say, that trauma could be anything, but whatever it is, it's enough to deter her from taking certain types of roles, which is entirely her right.

good for her 👙

How is this delicate flower able to get through a single day? She seems to have suffered every single trauma going.

Good for her.

I wonder if the sex scene would have been raunchy? I recall Penn from "Gossip Girl". There are two GH actors who play Chase and Brooklynne. They announced to the press due to the fact they have families, they have nixed doing steamy love scenes. It seems to be a trend. I recently watched a few of Ms. Jamil's interviews, she seems like a cool person, I have to check out her acting.

She was great in The Good Place series. Only thing I’ve seen her in.

reply

Is that still on the air?

reply

No but seasons are on the Peacock (NBC) app.
