That 'random old...' you're referring to is Jessica Chastian. Do tell me, you don't expect the kid to stay like that even after two decades do you ?

The movie did lose some of it's charm when Mackenzie turned into Jessica, but I was referring to the old hag at the end, played by Ellen Burstyn.
I understand that she had to be replaced by another actor for the 20-30 years later part and Jessica Chastain was a good choice for that role..but still...it wasn't the cute little daughter he left.:(
That scene at the end where Cooper finally gets to meet his grandma..err,I mean daughter, again was ridiculous and not emotional at all for me.
Again, I understand that if another 40 or so years have passed by on Earth then she will have to look like an 80 year old...but a better script would have somehow avoided that.
What should be the emotional climax ended up being Cooper meeting some random old stranger played by an actor who only got one or two scenes.

While the OP was somewhat boorish in the exposition of the idea, I think the general point stands. One of the primary drives of the show was MacKenzie Foy as the emotional center. The emotional impact changed dramatically once she grew up. I would have rather seen Murphy as MacKenzie solve the message from her Dad and relay it to Michael Kane.

Mackenzie looked a lot like Ellen Burstyn. Not Jessica Chastain! Maybe Liv Tyler would have been best for the 35-ish Murph, but she's an airhead with limited acting.
shareCompletely disagree. First of all, Inception had the heart & cuteness in the face of DiCaprio & Cotillard's storyline, a truly great love story. And second, the character of Murph was developed really, really good and consistent in Interstellar. Of course Jessica couldn't play the same temper that Mackenzie, because Murphy grew up, and her mood had changed. Both of them did a really, really good job. As well as Ellen Burstyn at the end.
Nolan, I love you forever!
