Sorry, I was actually responding to the OP. I don't get this 'Nolan' connection. For me, Chazelle is one hell of a director (and writer) in his own right. Besides, I've never been a fan of Nolan, he strikes me as a competent director whose darlings are always the same: cerebral two-hour+ plots, made of head-scratching theories, spectacular explosions, car chases, and dark, rectangular, moody, settings ... I wish he could loosen up a bit and make something more flashy, happy, flamboyant for a change... or just a comedy.
One can argue that there is a pattern too in Chazelle's film, but I feel like Nolan always tries to wow his audience but there's always a distance between the viewers and the characters while Chazelle makes you feel like inhabited by the very passion and energy that drive the characters.
