I don't have an answer to your question, but not seeing the likes of Zendaya in "The Witch" or Denzel Washington in "The Northman" certainly added to the authenticity.
Apparently authenticity is a secondary consideration to 'diversity/representation' these days. If you even question a black character's/actor's presence in a depiction of a historically white society 'the mob' wants to burn you. I mean, we had a black Anne Boleyn, for crying out loud.
