Harley Quinn - Gotham City Sirens

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some interesting news out of the DCEU. Seems like Harley Quinn is headed back to the big screen in a different franchise for WB.

THR is reporting that Margot Robbie will be returning to the role in a new film called GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, based on a comic series of the same name that focuses on all the bad ladies of Gotham, including Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

Suicide Squad's David Ayer will return to direct and produce from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who recently worked on the Tomb Raider reboot.

Suicide Squad had some problems, but Harley Quinn ain't one. Very much looking forward to seeing more of Robbie going nuts onscreen. What about you?

Oh, and that THR story also mentions that WB is developing a Deadshot spin-off with Will Smith. Not sure if that was known or not, but that's also pretty interesting news.

I just saw this movie and I'll agree that Suicide Squad had a few shortcomings, but if anything shows promise for future spin-offs etc it would have to be Margot's Harley Quinn character. The thing about DC comics that I always felt contrasted to Marvel was that DC characters - while colorful, lacked depth. Trying to jam the backstory for so many characters into a single montage didn't help this film. If the next one gives Margot some breathing space for character development and some sharper dialogue - it could put it over the top.
