I re-watched part of Little Dorrit yesterday, and I have to say that Claire Foy was absolutely perfect in it. Her delivery was so good and she embodied the character beautifully - I'm genuinely surprised that she didn't receive more praise for her portrayal.
shareClaire was recommended (but not nominated) for the category of Best Actress in a Miniseries for the Emmy awards show that was shown on September 20, 2009. However, the voting members of the Emmy Awards did nominate Tom Courtenay and Andy Serkis in Little Dorrit for the Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries category (neither one won in that category). Matthew Macfadyen was also recommended for the Best Actor in a Miniseries category, but he was not nominated.
shareYeah, me too! And that she doesn't get more work now!! It just makes me so frustrated that people w/ very little acting talent and very little range get so many roles just b/c of their looks or that the same ppl (though they are talented) get the roles over and over again. She acts so naturally, as if she's someone you would meet on the street. One thing that struck me was seeing her in an interview! She was so completely different from Amy that it's hard to believe it's the same person. In interviews, her voice is lower, she seems more talkative and kind of not as mature as Amy...as Amy, her soul age felt like someone in their 40's but in person, she seems like a young, twenty-something.

You'll be pleased to know she IS getting more work! She's got one of the main roles in the new BBC Upstairs Downstairs series which is filming at the moment. And if you haven't seen Going Postal yet definitely do, she's awesome in it! Love her.
shareI think with her actual talent she has any future she wants in film. She is a damn good scene stealer and has just the right look to fit just about any role. She has impressed me.

Even though I'm sure she's highly respected I don't think she can move beyond character actress--nothing wrong with that-- to lead actor a la Winslett or Knightley.
Oh the lovely Claire is leagues and I mean LEAGUES above Keira Knightley in terms of beauty and acting. It's a crime she isn't in the same league as Knightley if there was any justice Claire would be A list not B list going by Hollywood standards.

She was fantastic in season of the witch too, despite the rest of the movie being not so good.
