She plays a highschool girl and she's 28!
It's not uncommon for twenty somethings to play 'teens!

Has something to do with "real kids" having to take three hours off from filming/taping for mandatory schooling.

Some labor laws regarding children may come into play, too.

She could legitimately pass for being a kid though, which is more than can be said of a lot of the cast of Glee and 90210. I usually assume actors playing teens are like 25, but her age is quite shocking to me.

She looks extremely young for her age which is a good thing.

I had no idea she was so old! I figured she was older than her character, obviously not a teenager,but I was thinking maybe 21. In fact, she's much older than me!

It makes sense though, I thought I recognised her from somewhere, now I see she played Knives.

I notice she looks her age when she has long hair, but when she has a bob (as in a lot of her roles) it seems to take the years off!

I also think it's better to get older actors since they want to avoid going through the awkward teenage years. When you look at many of the supposed attractive actors HS pics, they never look as good as they do as adults.

Plus there are lot of 15-18 olds that look 12 or 13,when i was 17 people thought i was 13 and i am 21 now and people think i look 15-17,honestly it is better to hire 20 year olds than actual teens.

I honestly did think Ellen was maybe 20 at most,but she is still very cute

The show does a great job of making her look like teen, but she looks her age outside the show.

Also its nothing new either teens have always been played by actors that are 20 or older
