That is strange.

I'm born the same year. I watched titanic 3/4 times at the cinema (not because I liked it, but because loads of different friends wanted to see it). I had seen loads of films at the cinema already before this one.

Maybe it's misinformation.

It doesn't say thats the first movie she ever saw, just in the theatre. She would have been about twelve or so? She may have watched everything on VHS or cable until then. I don't think thats weird. My family rarely went to the theatre when I was younger.

I was born in 83 and the first movie I ever saw in the theatre was Die Hard: With A Vengeance (95).

Some families are just sheltered like that. I know a guy who was born in 85 and saw his first movie in theatres in 1999!

Not really. There are very few good theatres in downtown Toronto. I personally wouldn't let a young girl go out alone either.
