Of all the beautiful black actresses in the world, why chose someone ugly? Do they want people to criticize her so they can call it racist and have the media push the movie like they did for Black Panther among others?
If she's a Bond-type character, then she's using seduction regularly. How is that going to be believable from a chick that looks like her?
You and many others (including me). I'm still really confused about this. I could bet my money he'd be a bonafide ticket draw over a supporting character in a B-List Marvel movie.
I'll repeat the explanation I gave a few days ago talking about the casting in The Little Mermaid and Zelaya as MJ in SpiderMan.
It's a religious thing*
When you're a producer and you're blackwashing main characters to prove your virtue, to prove you're inclusive, to prove you're a good believer in diversity, the casting needs to reflect your devotion.
Imagine for a moment that they casted an attractive or a charismatic female lead. How that proves your devotion? Maybe you casted her because she was charismatic, and that case your devotion would be unclear, your faith would remain unproven.
BUT... if you cast an ugly chick, if you cast Lashana Lynch as 007, if you cast Halle Bailey as the Little Mermaid, if you cast Anna Diop as Starfire... then it must be true faith, because the only way you would have casted those chicks in those roles is because you're a good believer in diversity. Then you have proven your devotion, and as a producer, you have proven yourself deserving to be accepted as part of the flock, Diversity bless you.
History repeats. We're just watching a new cult rise and spread.

*I call this neo-religion 'Diversitarianism', though you can call them Modern Left, SJW, Modern Feminism, Cultural Marxism, or whatever you like.
Well, I formulated this theory a few days ago, before it was known that Lashana Lynch was the new 007. And it seems to have predicted quite well this casting.
When a theory no only explains what happened, but predicts what will happen...
When you're a producer and you're blackwashing main characters to prove your virtue, to prove you're inclusive, to prove you're a good believer in diversity, the casting needs to reflect your devotion.
It's better than just sticking with "white male" to prove lack of consideration for reality.
I love shooting down Bond "gotta be a white male" B.S. by asking a simple series of questions:
1. How old is Bond? Impossible to answer. He was middle aged in the 60's and still is.
2. Is Bond even a single person or is the name James Bond a code just like 007? 3. Have you ever met actual high-level intelligence agents? If you have, you'd know they are NOT all white males. Diversity IS ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY A BENEFIT TO SPIES AND INTELLIGENCE OFFICERS.... Because then they can blend in anywhere based on which agent you choose.
FYI, I responded on #3 because I have a bit of experience with this in my 20+ year legal career.
Truth is always going to defeat misogynistic trolls like you, and yes that's practically ALL I ever see you post.
Your simple minded, meaningless username is distinguishable enough and reflective of the meaningless babble you spew all over this site.
Deal with it. The future is moving forward.

Bond is a fictional character, and it's not exactly the most accurate portrayal of a real spy.
Indiana Jones or Lara Croft are neither the most accurate portrayals of archaeologists out there. And Bruce Wayne is slightly different from the average billionaire.
However, Bond is a good portrayal of the traditional British phlegmatic character. What's more, that's one of the key elements of Bond.
You want to make a movie about real spies? or real archaeologist? or real billionaires? Fine. But those would be different characters. You're not talking about 007.

With regard to the personal insults you included in the comment, well, help yourself.
Codename theory is the stupidest fan theory ever created, and it has been proven false time and time again.
And there are a lot of places that James Bond can blend into that this woman cannot, so how do explain that? Obviously there are a diversity of agents working in the same organization who can use their identity to their advantage in different settings, but only James Bond is 007. Nobody else deserves that distinction.
Do you realize that it takes a few years to make a movie? If James Bond is a real person, do you really think he's sitting around doing nothing in the years that we don't see him on screen? You really don't think he's out on other missions doing his job? You're seriously dense if you think every year that passes in real life equals one year in James Bond's life. He's a fictional character who is always within a 35-55ish age range depending on which actor is portraying him. 57 years have not literally passed in James Bond's life since Dr. No came out, you fool.
Britain is moving backwards, not forwards, as evidenced by the existence of people like you who support this.
It's better than just sticking with "white male" to prove lack of consideration for reality.
I disagree. There's a difference between subconscious bias and intentional bias. When the second actor to portray Bond was cast as white, there is a very good chance he was cast as a white male to stay consistent with Sean Connery. They probably didn't think of anybody but a white male because of that. It's the same way nobody would consider doing a white Shaft.
Now that they are casting a black female as 007, it's like they're checking off two diversity boxes. Like, "see? Look at our diversity." It becomes more apparent of their intent when there has been discussion about a black Bond for a few years now. This whole idea to prove that there needs to be diversity by purposely adding diversity to an already existing character is the wrong way to go about it.

James Bond is based on a series of novels. The character was written as white. White people actually exist. Thus it should be perfectly fine to honor the author’s intent by keeping the character white (not to mention male).
Imagine if Hollywood decided to remake Black Panther ten years from now. Would it be okay to cast an Asian actress? Please explain why or why not. After all, Black Panther is nothing more than a series of stories written by a couple of white guys.
Story and plot don’t matter much to the younger generation, do they? What seems to matter most is making a political statement. How fun. I couldn’t care less about Black Panther and Marvel films in general, but my eyes would roll to the back of my brain if an Asian woman was cast. It would make zero sense whatsoever. I’m pretty sure you can see that...it’s just a matter of whether or not you’re mature enough to admit it.
This is another attack by the elites to destroy white culture to provoke a backlash from white people to further fuel hatred amongst ourselves (divide and conquer is their game). They know that by angering white people over this Black Bond drivel, racist black people/black people who care less of white culture will play the race card and backlash against the whites. This will create even more divisiveness between humans. This is what "they" want. Divide and conquer is the key.
I admit, once I heard the news this morning, I was filled with rage but now I have calmed down. I have realised that this was just another Elitist attempt to anger me and I fell for it. So now, I dont care what they do with Bond, Superman, Batman, or any other white character just to spite the "masters" and not play their game. I aint their puppet.
Embrace this news however you see fit, just dont react to it negatively. This is what "they" want.
I will sit back and wait to see where this world is heading to!
They can cast Bond as a pink garden gnome who identifies as a purple bloated elephant, I couldn't care less now.
Joy Reid looks boring... had to check, only knew the name.
But Lashana is quite attractive, and her look has a lot of variety based on how she does her hair. I'm interested to see the style they go with for the movie. You know she's gonna look like a badass!
I’m quite interested what about her acting career makes you think she’s the best candidate for the role, it seems that you only care that she’s a black woman, sounds like you’re the one with the race issue
I wouldn't call her ugly but she's far from beautiful, with a "strong" face. I believe this sort of thing is a backwards compliment, presenting her as an example of what a "beautiful" black woman looks like.
I do find the SWS freakout about her casting in the next Bond film to be hilarious. As dunmb as it still is the character isn't even supposed to be James Bond or "Jane Bond" so all whining about this make believe black equivalent of historical whitewashing in cinema makes no sense. The character hasn't been changed This apparent 007 codename debacle will be a brief, one off stunt then business will continue as usual.
