Spring Awakening Movie
Does anyone know if there are any rumored scripts being written?? As soon as most of the original cast members are no longer in the show they should start filming - this way they're all still of age.

shareI highyl doubt they're making a movie at this piont because it just got popular and they'll wait until they stop making money of the play then the movie comes and sales go up for the play
just a guess

The original cast would be too old. Age isn't as much of an issue on stage as it is in movies. On stage Lea Michele can pass for 14, but in a movie, not a chance. Same goes for the rest of the cast...
I agree with MarcyPark, they'll wait 'til the bway stops making as much money, then make the movie to boost ticket sales.
All of the orginal cast is still on BRoadway I just saw it and it just started on broadway last DEC and it took rent 10 years to go from Broadway to Movie
shareskibumb- Yes, and RENT sucked.
share^ Isn't that the way it works with ALL musicals made films? I mean the only one lately that has satisfied me was probably Chicago.

Rory: Um, no, the punch line ruined your joke.
I would be extremely angered and annoyed if the most amazing play on Broadway, Spring Awakening, was made a movie. It's absolutely wonderful and PERFECT just the way it is and a movie could never, ever do it justice, in a million years. Plus, it's much too absract in such an artistic way a movie could never portray, and also like you guys were saying, I doubt they could use the original cast, and it will be difficult enough for fans when Jonathan G, John, and Lea leave the show for good *sobs at the thought* and so a movie just wouldn't work.
shareIf they ever made this into a movie, it would be VERY difficult. I love the show to death, but I don't think adapting a film directly from the musical could work. Perhaps if they adapted the play, and then added the music into it, then maybe it could work...but that is a big maybe. But knowing Hollywood, they're going to try it a few years down the line.
