Can Hollywood stop trying to make this guy happen?

His 15 minutes of post Elvis fame got too long. It's obvious that Hollywood producers try to make him happen as New Pretty Leading Man. Like they do with Chalamet, Jacob Elordi, Glenn Powell and few others.

Because they are desperate to make anyone happen who can lead big budget movies.

They gave up on Liam Hemsworth some time ago. Still trying with Chris Hemsworth. Gave up on Tom Hardy and Colin Farrell because they got old and can't sell big budget movies. Venom got money because it's Venom, not Tom Hardy. Hardy can't lead anything on his own. They had to add Charlize Theron to Mad Max because they didn't believe in him.

But situation is so catastrophic with Leading Man in Hollywood that now they are up to people like Austin Butler, Elordi, Powell...

It would never happen with Austin. Nobody cares about him and never did. He can't act without Elvis make up. He is boring on screen.

The Bikeriders movie projected to open less then $10M on $40M budget. He can't open anything. It's time for them to stop trying to make him happen.

Most producers try to make their actors "happen". That's Hollywood.

Why do you have such a problem with this guy? , You've already complained about him. Would you prefer him in minor roles instead? That's how the movie industry works. You try to make a movie star. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. There are successful, very popular actors that I don't like. I ignore them and move on

reply

Because no one likes when "stars" are forced at them. One thing when it happens natural. When actor did some role, everyone loved them and asks for more. Like young Pitt, Cruise, Dicaprio

It's another thing when no one cares but Hollywood is like: "This is your new movie star. You will like them and we will put them in big movies and force into your throat from every interview and magazine".

Then they don't understand why movie flops and no one cares to go to watch their "stars".

After few flops producers give up and then that "young star" disappears overnight because no one hires them.

Now they try to force Austin, Jacon Elordi, Glen Powell into everyone like they are new leading men everyone are lusting over. And it's annoying. No one, absolutely no one asks for more Austin Butler after Elvis. Yet they forced him on us.

That's why it's fun when their movies flop and producers face reality. Soon Glen Powell will flop with Twisters.

Then don't watch the movies he stars in, it's that simple. All you do is hate. Come up with new material kid.

reply

Are you his teen fan? I don't plan to watch that bike movie. But he still is at me from celeb cites with promotion.

reply

I don't plan to see it either. I don't see how he's "forced." I think we see better examples of forced older actors I don't care for that have been in Hollywood for years. Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio, Richard Gere, Samuel L Jackson who we see pop up in EVERYTHING. I have nothing against these actors, but I don't care for their acting and think they're all a bit overrated. I'm not calling for them to stop getting cast simply because I don't want them to be because I know millions of other people like them. It's hard to say someone's getting pushed when they're so early in the game. Call out the older actors they've been pushing for years, not the new guys. By the way, Austin Butler was very good in Dune Pt. 2. I didn't even recognize him at first. He has acting talent

reply

I don't mind Austin Butler so far. I can see the push happening, but it hasn't reached the point, for me, as to be annoying.

Adam Driver, that's the guy that needs to go away. His push has been absolutely ridiculous and undeserved. It's actually a punishment on all of us movie fans.

reply

I don't have problems with Adam Driver. Because he is actually a good actor.

I respect that he made it with that not so pretty face. Because of his talent. While pretty faces like Austin are forced on us.

reply

I don't mind Butler. Ya need a pretty boy dumb dumb to fill these sorts of roles. Treating them like real actors is kind of silly though. Once in a blue moon that kid will evolve into a Leo but he ain't that guy.

reply

I think he's earned his spot now. I was iffy about him at first too but he's a star in the making & imo well deserved.

reply

I agree with everything you said except for Tom Hardy. The guy has some serious chops and just needs to find the right project and stop doing crap like venom. All it takes it one project to rejuvenate a career. Just ask Colin Farrell.

But after Elvis and The Bikeriders I've seen all I have to see of Butler. He's awful. The Elvis movie was yet another larger-than-life sloppy overblown mess of a film from Baz Luhrman that I'm still boggled it got Oscar love. It should've swept the Razzies it was so atrocious. Bikeriders (true story or not) just came off like a Sons of Anarchy wannabe with a handful of name actors lead by Austin who I just didn't find the least bit convincing. Already sick of him.

reply

They did pretty much the same thing in the 1950s with guys who got their 15 seconds of fame trying to look and sound like Elvis.
