The Vampire Lestat?

Hmm... Just saw The Mortal Instruments & I guess thematically too it struck me that right at the moment Jamie would be perfect for this role. The Vampire Lestat is by far the best Annie Rice vampire novel in my view & Lestat a big charismatic character. I don't know anything about Jamie really, but can imagine him being interested in a (good!) version of this. It's a pretty sprawling novel, so maybe not suitable for a film, but if it were possible it could be wonderful since there ain't no character like Lestat!

Have seen Jamie in a few little things since Sweeney Todd but it was this recent film that made me think maybe he could do it..? I wasn't convinced whether he could pull it off, but I kind of feel that he possibly could now... I an imagine Lestat in him! What do you reckon? Would require a someone to make it though! He pretty much fits the description in any case. Maybe it quick though: Lestat in the book is supposed to be about 19 or something (not entirely certain) so would be nice to have him youngish. Though that's not usually how stuff works in cinema, I know.

Wow, I had never thought of that casting. Yes, I think that he would be a good choice for Lestat. I read a few months ago that a movie studio recently committed to making Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles series into movies. If that happens, I hope that they are well done.

Anne Rice modelled Lestat after a young Rutger Hauer, so JCB would at least be a better choice appearance-wise than Tom Cruise. But I don't think he'd be right in the role. I think he'd overplay it, the way everyone else has. If they could get a really solid actor, I think the role would be more interesting.

The actor who played the young Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation and plays Mr. Chechov in the new Star Trek movies would be really good, I think. He doesn't look the part exactly (but JCB doesn't have the physique), but he's a very good actor.
