US Skins discussion...

So I did a petition because I think HBO should make US Skins. Please read at least...

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/hboskins/

Ok, I know it's gonna sounds ridiculous, but I think that has fans, we've got to share our opinions. I'm not at all pleased with the fact that Mtv is going to do a remake of Skins... I mean, Skins being remaked is inevitable but, if they to do it, they have to do it right and I think it's only possible with HBO.
1 - Just looking the cast, we can say that they made HUGE mistakes. I don't know what the casting director was thinking. In Baltimore, there's A LOT African American and I don't see that in the cast. The pretending "Sid" is not right. I know it's gonna sound bad, but Sid is suppose to wear a beanie and glasses. I just cannot imagine him without those two important things. Plus, they don't appeal me. Even the cast from UK don't like them.
2 - They are shooting the show in Toronto when it's suppose to take place in Baltimore. I think it makes it less authentic. Less like the original show from the UK. HBO have more budget.
3 - If the show is in Mtv, there will be no sex, no drug and most important, no swearing. I could deal with a "Skins" who don't have sex and drugs, but without swearing, it will be like an American version of Degrassi. Also, Mtv don't usely make "trailer"(like the one for Skins series 2, with the song "Nude" from RadioHead) for their show. HBO do.
Ok, so their were my points. I really do think an American version of Skins could be interesting (in USA, they usually have more episode for a season, and the reaction of the American public could be surprising), but only if it's well done and it's only possible with HBO (maybe Showcase, or eventually NBC, but surely not with Mtv). Generation 1 of Skins was great, and it would a disaster to see a "soft" version of them. Let's raise our voices. If your in agreement with me, just sign this petition. It would take you less than 2 minutes.
P.S.: Also, I'm not going to watch the pilot episode at Mtv. I'm not going to encourage a sellout channel. I strongly encourage you to do the same thing (if you're too curious like me, you have internet at least).

I really do hope Jamie Brittain is going to read this and do something...

I just read an article on afterelton on this show. There's a few sides out and it's been stated that it will have sex, drugs and swearing. And also like the original they're after unknown actors to play on the show.

Personally i object to even the thought os skins being remade at all! the show is superb and if american audiences dont understand it cause they are to damn ignorantto be cultured (most of the times that the reason that shows in the states are remade) then *beep* em! Americans f'ed up the office, kath and kim and extras and now are *beep* up death at a funeral! just leave it be!

Skins is skins cause its british cause its real and doesnt glamourise situations in the slightest, some hw america constantly will take a show that deals with real issues and glamouise it sooo much that it just becomes dead *beep*

Ok, well you think Americans f'ed up the Office when in reality it is one of the funniest shows on tv. I am British, and was severely disappointed with the first two seasons, as they were pretty much replicas of the UK version, which just didn't work with Americans. However, since then it has come into its own, and the comedy style is much more Americanised. Result = One of the most original, funniest programs on tv.

I honestly wish they weren't remaking Skins in the US at all. To me the US should leave a great show like Skins alone. But I agree with you. If there should be a US Skins at all at least have it on a channel like HBO or Showtime where they actually allow lots of swearing, sex, and drugs.

FIrst of all, I'm American, and I HUGELY object to Skins being remade, period. I think it's stupid.

However, chill with the American-bashing, plz. "We" don't choose to remake these shows, it's an executive decision made by a small group of people, some of whom, most likely, are NOT American. And "we" did NOT "f up" The Office - I'd definitely say more people have enjoyed the American version than the original, just because they're essentially very different. Not that I enjoy the idea of Americanizing shows - as I mentioned before, I think it's stupid - but The Office is a piss poor example to give.

Anyway, I probably won't watch the American version of Skins. I'd rather stick to the original.

I loved UK Skins... and the only reason that I'd like a US version is because it will be AWESOME. Kids will watch it in the US, then hopefully they'll love it and watch the original UK version... being exposed to great actors/actresses like Nicholas Hoult and Kaya S.
