Hasn't really knocked it out of the park since winning her Oscar
Between 2010-2015, she was pretty much knocking it out of the park. Films like Pure, A Royal Affair, Testament of Youth, Ex Machina and The Danish Girl.
Sure not everything was great, The Fifth Estate and Seventh Son weren't great. Although she isn't the main lead in it The Man From Uncle was fun. Son of A Gun, she's a little underused but it's a solid film and Anna Karenina, even though it wasn't that well received by most many do say that her and Domhnall Gleeson's sections are the best thing in the film.
2014-15, was her bright period. She had two Oscar worthy roles in Danish Girl and Ex Machina. She was the new golden girl of Hollywood, and tops it off with the Oscar win for Danish Girl.
But it hasn't been that great since her win. Burnt (2015), the cast for that film was to die for Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Omar Sy, Emma Thompson, Uma Thurman, Lily James and Daniel Bruhl. Throw in Alicia too, I like the film more then some others. But it's clear Alicia did this before her fame kicked in and is only in it for 5 minutes at most.
Jason Bourne (2016), the weakest in Damon/Greengrass Bourne films. She's fine in it. The Light Between Oceans (2016), probably her strongest film and performance in her post Oscar run. She's great in it. Tulip Fever (2017), was a disaster cause it had Harvey Weinstein all over it and but it was filmed before Alicia hit it big. Euphoria (2017), Vikander and Eva Green in it as sisters. Vikander working with a director she's work with twice before in Sweden in Pure and Hotel. The film met with bad reviews and has slipped by without much fuss. Submergence (2017), James McAvoy stars with Alicia, working with Wim Wenders. Came out to bad reviews. Tomb Raider (2018), her first lead performance in a blockbuster. Met with meh reviews and decent box office at best.
I don't think besides Light Between Oceans aside, that she's really knocked out a top performance or film in a while. I know she's married now and probably wants to just hang out and do her thing. Do you think since winning the Oscar that she's taken the foot off the pedal in terms of her performances?
