child abuse?

i have a friend that says because she did this movie it was child abuse per say since she was only what 10-11 years old when she actually made this movie. i know there are some whacky parents out there that let their kids to anything but in this day and age am i wrong to think there are to many laws out there regarding children in this industry for them to be abused. also they may know some things but maybe not all of what they are saying and doing and what it means. and come on 10-12 year olds arent as stupid as she seems to think they are. they can handle a lot as long as they were raised properly. am i missing something about this girl being treated badly during the making of this movie? i would be interested to find out what people are reading or hearing on this subject. i havent seen the movie yet but it looks good. i just find her opinion a bit naive in today's world.

Your friend obviously doesn't know much about the film-making process. What the actors see when they're in front of the camera is very different from what the audience sees on the big screen. There's a lot of editing that happens in between. That's why it's called "movie magic." So many people simply fail to grasp this concept.

What the audience sees on screen is carefully spliced together and set to creepy music to make it dark and frightening. What goes on during filming is usually fun and lighthearted and nobody is being abused. For child actors a parent or legal guardian must be present at all times, either on set or in another room watching everything on a TV monitor. That's very strictly enforced, especially on big-ticket productions like this one.

Fuhrman, 11 years old when Orphan was filmed, excels in a very wide-ranging role...
