Spider-Men
Luke Cage is bad ass. Black Panther is bad ass. War Machine is bad ass. Falcon/current Captain America is bad ass. Storm, not my favorite, but a runner up to LEAD the X-Men. I could go on.
I'm white because I was born white. Peter Parker's white because he was created as a white youth. Nothing more. He's so iconic to our culture that changing his race is the same as America one day proclaiming that Lincoln and Kennedy were both black, and will forever be remembered that way. I spend 200 bucks a month on comic books. I've been reading them my whole life, so yes, my opinion counts. There's no reason to make Peter Parker black when there are other black characters to influence young people. And mark my words, Black Panther is going to knock the socks off of people who aren't familiar with him.
Besides, if they make Peter black, then they would have no cultural need for Miles (who I'm not as familiar with, because I'm not big on the Ultimate Universe). I say it should be a traditional Peter Parker and give him a young friend, Miles Moralis, as a lab partner or something, establishing the character, and then having an incident in a sequel or what not that gives him the same powers as Peter, and they become Spider-Men together.
