Lea Seydoux and Marion Cotillard have the most bland acting

Is that the French style of acting?

reply

Marion Cotillard??! I have heard other critiques but bland?! Have you seen La Vie En Rose? That was a powerhouse performance.

Well,
I don't think it's 'bland' but it is restrained. And yes it seems the French are less theatrical than the Americans, in general. Why, I don't know.
Marion Cotillard can and has done both. Probably Lea can too.

French film is more cinematic. The acting is subtle and doesn't come from this theatrical tradition like in America and Britain where actors feel they need to talk constantly and belt it out to the back rows. To me even a lot of "Oscar-worthy" performances look like a lot of shameless scenery chewing. I appreciate actors that don't always do that.

Your BLAND comment is an example how some people (YOU) have no idea about good acting.😕

i agree with you

reply

Yes, french style of acting is less hammy and can appear bland to americans I guess.

reply

exactly.
I think they like overacting so much in america that they don't know what is true acting; they call all european actors bland or lifeless recent examples that come to my mind Cotillard, Kinnaman, Alex Skarsgard!

I agree
