shareI feel that Clint did it to keep his kids safe and free from the press of being Clint Eastwoods kids. Probably wanted the very best childhood they could get.
shareI think that he was still with Sondra Locke at the time. To his credit, he's not a "deadbeat dad." He's had quite a few children with various women, and he has always supported them financially outside the public eye.
shareI want to thank the two repliers. I read he had "denied" Scott and that didn't sound too good. But your answers make sense and his father did put him in one or two of his movies so obviously there's no bad blood.
Clint was never married to Scott's mother and both Scott and Scott's sister, Kathryn were a result of Clint's affair with their mother, Jacelyn while Clint was involved with Sondra Locke. I suspect that probably had something to do with it plus I suspect that both him & Jacelyn came to a mutual agreement that not acknowledging Clint as their father would be best for the Scott & his sister.

Supporting kids financially is fine, and good, but it sounds like that's all he wanted to be.
There is a LOT more to being a parent than money. I never thought Clint Eastwood came off as a nice guy in interviews, and it seems to be the case.
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."
I love Clint Eastwood. I don't know anything about his personal life and don't really care. He's a great actor and director and has produced some really great films. As for him supporting his child financially...any man or woman can do that. What matters most is being a good parent. That's really the reason for my response to your comment and your reply to the OP.
