Refuses to play a gay character? And he calls himself an actor?

Quite pathetic.

Any actor looks for these challenging roles where they are completely thrown out of their element.
The fact that he left the show just because of that is quite pathetic really.

I hope people think twice before casting him in roles...God forbid it's not an easy role for him and then he'll quit.

Lost a lot of respect for Grimes.

It's weird because he's okay playing someone who murders people, and he's okay with being completely nude and having tons of sex. So it can't be moral issues. It's pretty unprofessional of him and inconvenient to his coworkers. He can't claim he didn't know what kind of show this was either.

I feel bad for the guy playing Lafayette. It's gotta hurt knowing someone quit a TV show rather than be romantic with you.

Bet you don't take no for an answer.

GOOD for him. Those gay titles follow people. Look at Lafayette, people think he's gay in real life. Being cast as a murderer in a movie, people will know he's acting as a murderer. Being cast as gay on true blood , people will really think he's gay.

It appears those 'titles' haven't followed Tom Hanks, Antonio Banderas, Hilary Swank, Charlize Theron, James Frano, Jared Leto, Sean Penn, Sebastian Stan, or other actors who have played and will play gay/lesbian on screen. Some of the above have even won Oscars for playing said roles. As for Nelsan Ellis, it's a shame people automatically believe he's gay just because he plays Lafayette. That's sad really. But for Grimes, he took a part in a series that is all about sex, whether that be between men and men or women and women, doesn't matter. This very thing happened to actor Chris Engen whose career has tanked.
