This is probably the first 'mean' thread I've ever made...

...and I'm not TRYING to be mean, but this girl is NOT attractive enough to be a lead actress IMO. I don't understand her appeal at all.

Normally I would keep these types of opinions to myself, but I just had to say it this time after watching the trailer to Lola Versus.

No worries, she allready stuck with krappy indy films. Those films are famous for usually casting ugly people to look more "indy".

reply

You and me, both. It's a case of 'the emperor's new clothes'. All of a sudden a plain looking, charmless actress has a lead in every indie film, including a Woody Allen movie. Who is she? Where did she come from? Why are they hiring her? Why didn't she pay her dues? Most importantly, when will she go away?!

reply

when was it decided a lead actress has to be attractive? maybe in a romantic comedy where the leads are always a 10. those movies are one of the major things wrong with Hollywood

reply

I like Greta Gerwig.

reply

the level of human intelligence in this thread leaves a lot to be desired

reply

Thank you, junmengo! I am really disturbed by the number of people who believe that there is some correlation between acting talent and physical attractiveness. It's absolutely absurd.

reply

Ok. I could ignore most of this absurd thread, but I'm curious.
Who is she? Where did she come from?
And most inexplicably... Why didn't she pay her dues?

She's an actress. She was writing, she wanted to try acting, she got good reviews. She started in a small movie and graduated to bigger and bigger roles until she got up to this point. It all sounds pretty reasonable to me.

What "dues" was she supposed to pay that she didn't?

reply

i know.... you would think having the actual ability to act would be the most desired, but alas no, they just want "pretty" people, which is a joke itself considering beauty is subjective....

It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack. Not rationality...
