Her 'stupid quote.'

''I have no interest in becoming really famous. It's easy to forget sometimes that it's a fairly stupid profession. It's basically glorified make-believe. It's always been my passion, but let's face it: I'm doing the same thing I was when I was 3 years old and getting tutus.''

Ungrateful. Foolish. Spoiled. Bratty.

Maybe you need to learn why it is considered an art form, before you open your mouth, and make such a public declaration. I have a feeling that Sir Ben Kingsley wasn't on the set with you the day you made such a "little girl" statement.

I've seen her work. She certainly ain't defining Pi.

i don't get the point of this discussion. is it about the interview or is it now a discussion about art and movie business? i think that miss thirlby said a "blah" sentence in an "blah" interview which in fact could be quoted wrong, too. so i don't get the point in blaming her or other users that they don't see the higher magnificence of the arts.

i love movies. every year i see more than i can afford in the cinemas. i love being taken away from reality for some time and i wish i'd have had a chance to be in the business. and it is indeed an art to move people, to let them recognize similarities with their own emotions, feelings and past. but i don't like the fact that artists begin to be "chic and vain" only by claiming themselves to be an artist. i find it quite bracing that a young actress like miss thirlby claim the system to be stupid.

people watch other people. that's the essence of movie business. it's the words of the play, the right scenery, the right sound, the dramatic composition of written text spoken - all of this and much more elevates a movie or the single actor to be artistic. so a movie can be true art or just an off-the-shell article - who should define the difference
